LHiNC Dutch Elm Disease Prevention Assistance Program

LHiNC’s Environment Committee can assist Linden Hills residents in preventive tree care for Dutch Elm Disease (DED) in the following ways:

  1. The Environment Committee has negotiated a discount from Rainbow Tree Care Company of about 25% on DED treatment for Linden Hills residents.
  2. The Environment Committee will provide $50 in additional assistance for every elm a resident treats either on a boulevard or on their private property.
  3. For boulevard elms only, if they are part of a cluster of valuable elms and/or are exceptional good specimens, and if treating the tree is a financial hardship, the Environment Committee may assist the resident in block wide fundraising and/or pay up to $200 in additional funding.

Funds Available for 2008: $3,500. This represents a combination of NRP funds and funds raised from the neighborhood for tree care.

Eligible Elms are:

  • located within Linden Hills
  • currently in good health -and-
  • considered a good candidate for treatment by a tree care professional.
